Cabana Stratford is a restaurant that centres on open fires, where the food is cooked in full view of the customers. In addition to celebrating Brazil’s rich character, the lighting needed to create a relaxed and vibrant energy in synergy with other aspects of the design. We gained inspiration from a business trip to Sao Paulo, where we saw how residents of the favellas make extensive use of found and recycled materials. We wanted to adapt this approach to suit the restaurant, where a highlight is our use of recycled products such as denim to create the fixtures.
